The Social Justice Division: This part of the New York State Attorney General will have to handle different aspects that may be concerning to the security of individuals of New York concerning about social issues such as labor, civil rights, charitable organizations or donations from charities, protection of the environment and also health care issues whether on the caregiver or patients side.
  5. The State Counsel Division: This is one of the divisions of the New York State Attorney General which will be involving regarding counselling services of the state. They will have to protect the people of New York from Sex offenders so they will have to operate the management unit for such case. They will also be handling cases which are quite related with claims, civil recoveries, and real property and litigation cases.

Provisions of Office

Way back the year of 1684 up to 1777, this was the time when the colonial British government took over the government of New York. The first New York Attorney General was then selected by the crown of the British people or the governor of the colonial government. During the year of 1693, the New York Attorney General had a payment of about 50 pounds on that year.

On the year 1777 to 1822, there were some changes with the appointment of New York Attorney General. The New York Attorney General was then chosen by the Appointment Council in the government. On the year 1823 to 1846, there were some changes with the selection of the New York State General again.

It was then appointed by the State Legislature of New York for a term of three years. Hence, the New York State Attorney General will be able to do their responsibilities within the three-year term. From the year, 1847, it has been a culture that the New York Attorney General will already be chosen by the voters of New York.

Being a New York State Attorney General entails a lot of responsibilities in terms of the supervision of legislative acts and supervision of the people of New York when they did some acts. They have the responsibility to protect the people from New York.
